Clark County Seeks Input from Businesses and Nonprofits to Shape Future Support Programs

Survey Aims to Tailor Economic Development Initiatives to Community Needs

Clark County is reaching out to local businesses and nonprofit organizations, inviting them to participate in a brief survey designed to gather insights into current business conditions.

This initiative aims to inform the development of targeted programs that will invest in the success and resilience of these vital community entities.

The survey results will guide the Community and Economic Development Department in crafting new support programs utilizing funds from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).

These programs are intended to stimulate local economic recovery and promote long-term sustainability.

Participants have the option to complete the survey anonymously or provide contact information if they wish to be contacted by County staff.

The survey is designed to take approximately 10 minutes to complete.

“Clark County recognizes that small businesses and nonprofits have diverse needs,” said Shani Coleman, director of Community & Economic Development.

“We aim to use data from this survey to better understand these needs and build stronger support programs tailored for our small business and nonprofit community.”

The Office of Community and Economic Development (OCED) serves as the primary resource for new, established, and prospective businesses interested in investing, expanding, or relocating to Clark County, Nevada.

With a dedicated team of experts, OCED provides businesses and developers with the necessary tools and resources to start new projects or expand existing ones.

Home to 2.3 million residents, Clark County covers roughly 8,000 square miles and is the 11th-largest county in the nation.

Committed to enhancing and supporting the economic viability of the unincorporated areas of Clark County, OCED is focused on advancing inclusive, sustainable growth and building awareness of economic opportunities beyond the lights of Las Vegas.

In recent years, Clark County has launched several initiatives to support local businesses and nonprofits.

For instance, the Small Business Opportunity Program (SBOP) is designed to help small business owners increase their capacity to compete for government contracts.

Participants receive instruction, mentoring, coaching, and relationship-building training.

Many graduates have gained access to contract opportunities with local government entities, institutions of higher learning, and private agencies.

Additionally, the Business Development Advisory Council (BDAC) facilitates the growth of disadvantaged businesses throughout the county by promoting equal business opportunity programs and advising the Board of County Commissioners on methods to provide more equitable access to vital business information.

BDAC also partners with Nevada’s entrepreneurial office to identify new businesses and opportunities.

In the realm of housing, the Community Housing Fund (CHF) was established to address the urgent need for affordable housing for low- to moderate-income residents in Southern Nevada.

Since its inception, the Board of County Commissioners has approved CHF funding of over $245 million for 43 housing developments across the community, both new construction and rehabilitation projects.

These efforts aim to ensure that Clark County residents have safe, modern, and affordable places to call home.

By participating in the survey, businesses and nonprofits have the opportunity to influence the development of programs that directly address their needs and contribute to the overall economic health of Clark County.

For more information on the survey and other support programs, interested parties are encouraged to contact the Office of Community and Economic Development.
