Assisting Lives in Las Vegas: A New Chapter for a Dedicated Non-Profit

Formerly Assistance League of Las Vegas, the organization continues its mission with a fresh identity

In May 2025, the nearly 50-year-old non-profit formerly known as Assistance League of Las Vegas rebranded itself as Assisting Lives in Las Vegas. This change reflects the organization's enduring commitment to serving the local community.

"Our mission is now in our name," stated Sylvie Courtemarsh, the organization's president at the time. "Since 1976, our goal has been to make a lasting impact by meeting the essential needs of students and families in our community."

The non-profit remains a 100-percent member volunteer-run organization, focusing on enriching the lives of children and adults in need. One of its signature programs, previously known as Operation School Bell, has been renamed Our School Boutique. This initiative provides thousands of Clark County School District students each year with new clothing, instilling confidence and promoting success in school.

In July 2025, the Olympia Companies Charitable Foundation organized a Back-to-School Supply Drive, donating thousands of items such as notebooks, pencils, and crayons to Assisting Lives in Las Vegas. These supplies were distributed through Our School Boutique, ensuring students have the necessary tools for a successful academic year.

The organization's award-winning Thrift Shop, located at 6446 W. Charleston Blvd., continues to be a vital part of its fundraising efforts. Staffed entirely by member volunteers, the shop offers quality merchandise, including designer clothing, antiques, and home decor. Proceeds support various philanthropic programs, reinforcing the non-profit's commitment to the community.

In June 2025, Sue Trock was elected as the new president for the 2025-2026 term. Having played a pivotal role in the organization's rebranding, Trock is set to lead Assisting Lives in Las Vegas into its next chapter.

As the organization approaches its 50th anniversary in 2026, it continues to embody its mission of assisting lives in Las Vegas, demonstrating that while names may change, the dedication to community service remains steadfast.
