Assisting Lives in Las Vegas: A New Chapter for a Dedicated Non-Profit

In May 2025, the long-established Las Vegas nonprofit reintroduced itself as Assisting Lives in Las Vegas, underscoring its unwavering dedication to local community service.

President Sylvie Courtemarsh highlighted the renewed focus on supporting students and families since 1976.

This entirely volunteer-run organization remains committed to uplifting children and adults in need.

A key initiative, Our School Boutique—formerly Operation School Bell—now outfits thousands of Clark County students with new clothing each year, helping foster both confidence and academic achievement.

In July, the Olympia Companies Charitable Foundation held a Back-to-School Supply Drive, providing notebooks, pencils, and crayons for distribution through Assisting Lives programs.

The award-winning Thrift Shop on W. Charleston Blvd. continues as a fundraising cornerstone, offering quality items with proceeds fueling vital local efforts.

Sue Trock, instrumental in the rebranding, was elected president for 2025-2026, steering the nonprofit toward its milestone 50th anniversary.

Clark County Seeks Input from Businesses and Nonprofits to Shape Future Support Programs

Clark County is urging local businesses and nonprofits to share their insights through a new 10-minute survey aimed at strengthening community support.

This initiative will help the Community and Economic Development Department design programs, using American Rescue Plan Act funds, to boost economic recovery and long-term resilience.

Participants can respond anonymously or leave contact information for follow-up from county staff.

According to director Shani Coleman, the goal is to build tailored support that addresses the community’s diverse needs.

OCED, serving nearly 2.3 million residents, provides resources for new and existing ventures in Clark County’s vast 8,000-square-mile area.

Programs like the Small Business Opportunity Program and Business Development Advisory Council help small and disadvantaged businesses access vital opportunities.

Additionally, over $245 million has been committed to affordable housing projects, ensuring safe and modern homes for local families.

By joining the survey, organizations can directly shape future resources and growth across Clark County.
